Mother's Day Gift

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day!  This was a little gift I threw together at the last minute for my mom.  It took me about an hour to get it done.  Amazing what you can do when you are in a hurry huh?

All files were purchased from the Silhouette store.

The white flower is a new file and I am loving it.  It was easy to put together.  Next time I will dry emboss it.  I decided to cut the bottom layer a different color and to offset it instead of lining the petals up with the 3D petals.  To make the petals even more 3D, I put a piece of foam underneath each petal.

The playing cards shown in picture 2 were purchased from Sams online.  My mom wanted a set and sis said she needed 2.  The picture was taken shortly after my parents had gotten married (over 55 years ago).  Mom was so excited about the cards and had forgotten she asked for them...:-)

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Wow, what a deal!

Wow, I purchased this COMPLETE digital kit tonight because I liked a few of the papers.  This is a steal at 1.99...but you better hurry.  I think the sale is over Sunday at midnight.  My son who is 9 watched as I scrolled through all the files and he said it should have cost $20.00 for all the time it took for the files to be created.  haha, he makes me smile :-)  I have a link to the kit below.

Life of the Party Complete Kit

I wish Silhouette Studio made it simple to upload ALL the pattern paper at one time.  Right now, the only way I know to add these as "Patterns" is to Import them to my library...a little time consuming, but I have nothing else better to do right now.  If anyone knows of an easier way to upload a paper pack, I would love to know.  Thanks!

Happy Scrapping All!!!

Off to see Great Grandma

I made these cards for my son and daughter.  They are on the road right now with their grandparents.  My husband's grandmother is visiting from Thailand, so they are heading down to Orlando to see her.  They will get a card each day while they are away.  I did this for them because I know they will appreciate them.  They are my number one fans!!!  This will be the first time my kids will remember meeting their great grandmother.  They were just babies when she was here last time.

I made these in a hurry on Friday while the kids were at school.  Luckily it wasn't a half day :-)

I even made them a little bookmark to go with the new books I bought them for the trip.  His is a monster and hers is a panda (as you can see in the picture).

It has been a very busy week.  My son had a report to do on migrates and green rays, so all my free time went to either helping him or letting him use my computer.  I will be by to check out all your blogs later today, since I have free time now!!!

Happy Spring!

Hello Spring!  I recently found Miss Kate Cuttables and I am really enjoying the free daily files.  The free file today was this bunny, egg, flowers and green oval (grass).  I used some existing Silhouette files and a font already loaded onto my computer to finish out this project.  I will definitely be purchasing some files from this website and have already purchased some through the Silhouette Online Store.

Happy Scrapping!

Love is patient, love is kind, memory verse -Airplane Style

Love is paitent, love is kind...perfect memory verse for this project.  My son is very smart, but can be unmotivated when it comes to school :-(.  After printing out the weekly newsletter and deciding how to tackle the weekly tasks, this was a no brainer to me.  My son loves airplanes and wants to be a pilot one day.  This verse should be easy to learn in bits and pieces, something he can do on his own.  4th grade is a lot tougher than 1st grade and I often forget to go over bible verse and spelling words with my daughter, who is in the first grade.  I'm sure I will have to make one for her, both love my scrappy projects.  Sweet kids they are!!!

Happy BIrthday Mom!

We are celebrating my Mom's Birthday today.  I'm excited, it's been a while since I have seen my family, as I was sick Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I purchased all the files from the Silhouette store.  The flower is actually a pinwheel...it looks like a flower doesn't it?  I used thick kraft paper to make the boxes sturdy, then covered them in patterned paper.  The paper is Colorbok, purchased at Wal-Mart.  The blue tin was purchased at the dollar store, how cute is it???

Camping - Project Life Cards

I am having so much fun playing with Project Life these days.  Little by little, I am getting through the pictures I have printed of the kids.  All of these files were purchased from the Silhouette Store.  I used the print and cut feature.  The pattern paper used in the girl card is digi Echo Park, purchased from Jessica Sprague's website.  Let me know if you have any questions.  :-)

Boy and His Dog

This was my inspiration today.  Created in Silhouette Studio.

Thank you card using Digi Paper and Silhouette

Echo Park and Silhouette, does it get any better?

Digi Paper:  Echo Park Sweetday from Jessica Sprague's website
Silhouette File:  Artisan Shape Card and 5-Card Kit Elegant Envelope

I recently sold a few of my Cricut Carts to some local ladies.  I had a lot left over and I gifted them to a friend who was purchasing 4 carts from me.  She purchased her Cricut Expression within the last month or so.  She was only expecting to get 6 carts from me.  In appreciation, she sent me a gift card to Micheals.  How sweet is she???

I am sending her a note to thank her for her generosity.  Sometimes I give things away and don't even get an acknowledgment. :-(

All the printed paper is from the Echo Park Sweetday digital paper pack.  I purchased the pack from the Jessica Sprague website.  To make it easy to label, I added a layer of white and adjusted the transparency.  Then I added some rectangle boxes so I could type in our addressess.

Originally I had created another card, it was all digi using a lot of the patterns in this pack, but it just didn't look nice.

Happy Scrapping!

Frog Valentine

Frog Valentine Bag Toppers

These cute little frogs can be found in the Silhouette Store.  I added "Hoppy Valentine's Day" to the heart he is holding.  The original file only had little black circles for the eyes.  I created my own eyes by making a white circle, then doing an internal offset to create the black pupil.  This makes the eyes easy to print and cut.   To create the mouth, I increased the line thickness in the original file so I could use the print and cut feature (again).  The bag topper was also purchased from the Silhouette Store - it had 2 owls on a branch but I didn't think the love birds were appropriate for my daughter to take to school.  I'm off to work on some girl Valentine's.

Birdie Notebook

Front of Bird Notebook

Removable bird bookmark resting on transparency

Divider and back of bird bookmark

Here is a $1.00 notebook I purchased from Michaels.  I took all the pages out and cut the binding so I could make this a spiral notebook.  Using scrapbook paper, I covered the front and back covers.  Inside I added a transparency page for fun and a divider.  The yellow and white polka dot bird is a bookmark.

Keep Calm and Carry Yarn Card

I made this card for my friend Ann, who gave me a gift card for Michaels for my birthday.  I had the flu at the time, then Christmas came, and New Years...so I am a little late in sending this thank you card.

Ann crochets and knitts, so I thought this would be an appropriate card for her.

I bought the phrase from the Silhouette Store.  The card template and the frame were also purchased from the Silhouette Store.  I offset the frame so I could add another layer to the card.  I used Martha Stewart card stock...I love her card stock, it is so thick.  I might have to go stock up on some more now that I have a gift card.  ;-)

I am about to take this class, Pen Tablet Basics for Scrapbookers from Jessica Sprague.  I have the Bamboo Create tablet.  Anyone out there use a tablet for scrapbooking?

2013 Calendar

2013 Calendar (click image to enlarge)

I created this calendar using a basic calendar offered in the Silhouette Store. I created an offset to each month and filled the offset with one of the background patterns I had previously purchased from the Silhouette Store. Patterns are a great deal - only .79 each and you can do so much with them!

Happy New Year!

Snowman Bag and a 3D Flower

Snowman Bag

I've had the flu since before Christmas, so I was unable to celebrate with my family this year.  Tomorrow I finally get to see my parents and give them their gifts.  The snowman is a bag.  I purchased it from the Silhouette Store.  I made it a little smaller than the original file.  It was really easy to make and holds a gift card nicely!  I dry embossed the hat, although you can't tell the black part is embossed.  I used the snowflake folder on the black.  To make the bag a little more sturdy, I cut out the bag walls using craft paper and taped them to the inside of the bag.

3D Flower

I created this 3d flower using another Silhouette file. Since I have been sick, I have lost all my creativeness and this is the best I could do. The paper was purchased years ago at Hobby Lobby and is kinda neat. It has glitter with a shiny top coat. It cut like butter in my Cameo.

Hope you all had a great Christmas and was able to spend time with your family and loved ones.

Created an Angry Bird using Wacom Bamboo Tablet

Angry Bird

For my birthday, my wonderful hubby got me a Wacom Bamboo Tablet, so I can draw my own images easily.  In the photo above, you can see the tablet in the background.

To create this card, first I did a search on youtube to find out how to draw the bird.  The tutorial I used is here.  Like the lady in the tutorial, I used Inkscape to draw the bird. Once I was finished with the bird, I imported it to my Silhouette Studio software, where I traced it and then set the cut lines.

To create the sling shot, I used the font tool and chose the letter "Y" in Silhouette Studio, then I filled it a "wood" pattern.  I created the tree using an existing file I had purchased from SIlhouette, it contained 4 leaves and some limbs.  To create the trunk, I used the rectangle tool.  The grass was also created using pre-purchased files from the Silhouette Online Store.

I cut "Happy New Year" using vinyl.  Sooo easy to put on the card!

I tried to follow the first scene in the Angry Birds game - and I think it turned out alright.  My goal was to draw and cut the bird, so mission accomplished!

Christmas Layout

 Double Page Layout

I am getting in the Christmas spirit, so I created these layouts today.  I cleaned house, put away the normal house deco and pulled out a few Christmas decorations.  I don't go crazy decorating, KIS, Keep It Simple!

I am really enjoying designing, now I need to get busy using these files I have created!

Bold Flower Layout

Double Page Layout

I made another layout today.  These were created in Silhouette Studio.  All images are my own creation using basic shapes, welding and grouping. I also used the offset feature to create the faux stitching.

How to make a digital flower

I wanted to show how I use basic shapes to make images.

First, I used the Text feature to create the "V", then I used the box feature to create the flower stem.  Next, I created the flower center and the center outer edge.  I used an oval and repeated it create the flower petals.  I welded the petals and used the knife/cut option to add an angle on the leaves.

Hope this is helpful to someone!

New Layout

The kids are at Grandma's, it's quiet here...Wow, it's quiet here!!!

I sat down without any ideas in my head; a blue background became a new layout.  I'd like to give a shout out to my hubby for drawing the puppy for me.  He's awesome!

All these images were created in Silhouette Studio with ovals, triangles, recatangles...you get the idea.  I love the faux stiching, it adds a bit of texture you don't get with digitial scrapbooking.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

My cut file, a romantic boy

I created this boy for fun tonight.  It was a challenge to see what I can do with the Silhouette Studio software.  All shapes were created by me and either grouped or welded together to make this lil guy. I used the fill feature and then shaded, giving even more dimension.

Boy created with basic shapes and altered end points

Here he is with the "cut lines" shown
Hope you like!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I drew my own cut file!

Free handed on tablet.

Opened image in Silhouette Studio, used the trace feature to create my cut file.

Here I did the same thing, except the cut is an outline of the girl.  The green border was just to make the file look pretty, I didn't need it so I cropped it out for this purpose.

After purchasing a few cut files this weekend, I thought to my self, "Self, you might be able to make your own cut files".  After much research, I found a free app that I liked enough to spend some time learning tonight.

I can't draw at all.  Well...I am pretty good at stick figures, haha.  I was happy with how this turned out though.  It was just for fun - and I was happy it worked with the Silhouette software so easily!

My daughter and I created a couple of pictures with this app.  They were not created to be used with the Silhouette, but they turned out nice so I am sharing with you.  So much fun!  My son gets to play with it tomorrow, he was busy tonight.

Winter Fun Card

Winter Fun!

I made this little card today as an experiment.  I purchased the .png file online and couldn't wait to play!  It took me a minute to figure out how to get the image traced correctly so I could actually cut it with my Silhouette, but I finally figured it out!

This is not my first time playing with Non-Silhouette files but it has been a while and I had forgotten how to do this.  I searched youtube and it helped a lot, but I could not for the life of me get the trace feature to recognize the white parts, ice skates, cuffs and snow ball.  A little editing in Photoshop and voila, it worked!

I don't have any winter paper, so back to googling again...the polka dot pink paper was also purchased online.  I printed it on my home office printer, then put it in the Silhouette to cut my card.

It's missing a sentiment, I know.  After I made it this far with the card, I took some time to do some projects with the kids.  (This little girl might need some glitter too!)

I love this girl, she reminds me of my daughter :-)

Zebra Bookmark

I don't know why, but I struggle with the new blogger.  This is my third time trying to post - so I am going to keep it short.

Products used:

Create A Critter Cart
Cricut Imagine
Cuttlebug
Sizzix dry embossing folder

I used layers of craft paper to make this bookmark sturdy.

I think it is time for a nap now :-)  Have a great weekend!

Fall

Happy Fall!

What a wonderful time of year :-)

I made this fall wall art using a file I got from the Silhouette Store.  It was free a couple of weeks ago.

This was so easy to make - it actually took longer to take the picture than to create and frame this subway style art.

I purchased the frame from Hobby Lobby.  It was originally green, but I wanted it to be white, so I spray painted it.

Have a great fall!!!

Owl Bookmark

I had so much fun making the bird bookmark yesterday I decided to make my own.  I used an owl cut file I had and I added an "U" using the text feature.  Voila, a bookmark.  In order to make these sturdy enough to last longer than 1 day you need to make multiple layers using the thickest cardstock you can find.  I used my Xyron to apply adhesive to all the layers.  I finished these adorable owls off with some twine.

I made all of these out of the same paper.  I am trying not to leave any unused paper when I cut.  I also cut a card and some birds for another bookmark.  Now I have a card to use in the future and another bird bookmark for my daughter.

Bird Bookmark

Bird Bookmark

I made this bookmark using a file from the Silhouette Library.  In order to make the bookmark stronger, I cut this image 5 times, twice in the pattern card stock and 3 times in craft paper.  My daughter lved it!
