Framed art for Madelyn

When my friend Audra had her baby girl, I made these for the nursery. Madelyn is 3 now and has a big girl bed which means new bedding so time to update Madelyn's framed art.

Here is the new bedding.

Here is what I have so far.

I found these fabric yo-yos at Hobby lobby. They are 4.99 and there are 10 in each pack. This particular pack is called "Funky". I used the Swiss Dots CB embossing folder for the background. This one is my favorite so far.

To make this butterfly, I took a picture of the lamp shade cover, printed it on photo paper then cut it out. I added fabric for the butterly body and to the bottom of the dry embossed cardstock.

Tweet Shirt - Revisited

You guys remember this shirt, when I posted it originally, it was all pink with no wording??? I found a lady on eBay who sells heat set vinyl by the sheet. It works soooooo much better than the Silhouette Heat Set Vinyl (remember my frustration when I tried ironing the bird on the shirt originally?). This vinyl takes 20 seconds to set!!!! I couldn't believe it!

I found the adhesive backed rhinestones at Hobby Lobby. They were really easy to iron on.

Can hardly wait until tomorrow when my daughter gets home from Grandma's house. I think she will be happy with the results. It will be a surprise!!!!

Chalkboard vinyl

WOW, I found sticky back chalkboard roll at Michael's tonight. I can't wait to find a project for this!!! It looks like chalkboard vinyl, I will let you know when I have had a chance to play with it.

It is 14" x 59" and cost 4.99 if I am not mistaken....(I know it was 4 something).

Owl Baby Card

I have another friend who is having a baby soon. :-)

I used my Silhouette to cut the circle card. Then I cut the scallops using pattern paper. I used my Imagine to cut the owl from Hoot N Holler. I used an owl stamp for the eyes. I cut strips of ribbon, folded them in half then taped them around the edge of the scallop. I used prima flowers for the owl wings.

Owl card

Supplies:

Ribbon
Buttons (and thread)
Cuttlebug
Cuttlebug Embossing folders
Pattern Paper
Cardstock
Adhesive (always!)
Cricut (any)
Hoot N Holler cart
Silhouette (to cut the card with the scallop and decorative edge with extra crease at top of card)

I have 2 pregnant sorority sisters. Since our icon is an owl, I made this card for one of the girls. I Lve the pattern paper I used. I think I purchased it at Hobby Lobby - I have been waiting for an opportunity to use it. Lots of 3D on this project. I cut the scallop in the middle and added pop dots to add dimension. I also used pop dots under the owl. I used ribbon for the owl wings and buttons for the eyes. I dry embossed the background orange paper.

I added an extra crease at the top to add even more dimension.

Thanks for looking!!!!

Flower Card

I made the flower using fabric. There are 6 layers of petals. I used Heat N Bond on the back so I could cut it with my machine. When they were all cut, I ironed the edges to add texture to the flower. This is one of my favorite projects. The card is Ok, but I love the flower!!! The pattern paper behind the green paper was printed and cut on my Imagine. I had a really hard time getting a good pic b/c I am in a hurry, time to go to Hobby Lobby!!!

Thanks for looking, see you later!

Shirts

I used heat transfer vinyl for this project. I had a hard time getting the vinyl to adhere to the cotton t-shirts. My husband came to the rescue only to get frustrated and walk away...and he is a very calm even tempered person. If anyone has any tips, I would greatly appreciate the advice.

When we decide what beach we are going to this summer, I plan to cut out that city and put above the top of the whale...I did this a few years ago with freezer paper and paint. The kids loved those shirts.

I hope to get some adhesive backed stones to add to my daughters shirt.

Blue and Pink are the only colors of heat set vinyl I have. I ordered 3 more colors from eBay tonight.

This was such a fun and rewarding project when I finally got the images ironed on the shirts. The kids were soooo excited.

Cricut-tastic

Thank you Audrey for thinking of me, you are such a sweet scrapper and I am so happy to see you back posting regularly. Everyone check her out...she has a really neat blog!

To accept this award I must provide five (5) Cricut related things regarding myself:

1. I have a love hate relationship with my Imagine. At first I had a lot of problems with it and my husband almost threw it in the trash because it made me a very unhappy scrapper. Now it is working much better, yay!!!!!!!

2. I was inspired by Staci to buy Imagine pattern carts, which I thought I would never buy. They are so much fun to use, wish I had bought them sooner.

3. I have a Gypsy but I find it easier to work with DS for most projects.

4. I owned a baby bug when they first came out.

5. I have an Expression and I just lent it to a friend who doesn't scrapbook, but hopefully soon she will be a scrapper. :-)

Now I have to pass on to 5 lovely ladies:

1. Tanya
2. Staci
3. Linda
4. and 5. I am passing it on to all you Cricut Scrappers out there!!!!

Sugarland Contest

Sugarland is having a contest. Here are the rules...http://sugarlandmusic.com/news/33323

"The CMA Music Festival turns 40 this year (it doesn't look a day over 23), and we want YOUR help to wish them a happy birthday!

From now through May 17th, we're looking for the very best Sugarland-themed birthday cards honoring the CMA Music Fest's 40th. The cards can be over-the-top crazy, or sleek and modern; they can look professional, or you can make yours with crayons and glitter glue. If you can dream it -- and take a picture of it -- you can do it! The only rule is that it has to somehow involve Sugarland, since you're helping us show them the love. Otherwise, the sky's the limit."

Here is my entry...

Front of card

Inside card

3-D

I tried to use my Cricut for this project but the Silhouette (SIL) made this so much easier since I needed to print and cut. I used the CMA Music Fest as my inspiration for the front of the card. I made it from scratch using back shapes and fonts. For the inside of the card, I used Sugarland as my inspiration. "Love" is from the flag Jennifer paints at their concerts. "Sugarland" is from their website. The heart with wings is an icon of Sugarland and also a tattoo Jennifer has on her right arm (but it is kind of hidden).

I have to admit, this project took me days to create. Mostly because of technical issues with my printer and I am still new to the SIL...the hardest part was getting 2011 CMA cut out with the border on it.

Roar!

My husband and I were looking for something to do together...so we decided to make 3D dinosaurs. For this project, I used my Silhouette (SIL). I bought the template from SIL for .99. When the kids saw these the next day, they LOVED them and wanted some of their own. We need to add faces but this was a fun project for us to do together. I won't tell you who got his/hers built first! haha How awesome is this 3D project????

Audrey Imagine Cart

Stacy at http://lovethatbug.blogspot.com/2011/05/ebay-is-good.html posted about her finds on eBay so I followed her lead and bought some new Imagine carts. I have never been interested in the pattern carts but since they are so cheap on eBay I thought I would try out a few.

I previously had made a chore chart - more like a flip chart but it accidentally got thrown away before we ever used it. I thought it might be easier to use the Imagine pattern cart with the Chore Chart cart - and WOW it is!!!!

All the paper used for this project started out as white cardstock. I used the patterns to fill in the basic shapes and images. The only thing that is not created by the Imagine is the bug - it is a Cuttlekids die cut. I am going to use it for my Scrapbooking CHORE, hahaha!!!

In the picture there is homework, brush teeth, reading time, bed time and scrapbooking time. I am not finished but wanted to show you my idea.

John Stamos! What!!!!

http://www.waff.com/global/Category.asp?C=195953&autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=5849251

John Stamos was within a 1/2 mile of my house and I didn't even know it!!!!!!!!!!!! It's probably a good thing...haha

In all seriousness, it's hard to believe he was here with the Beach Boys, in Harvest AL touring the damage. For the kids at that school, I know it was an awesome experience and I am sooo happy for them. My nephew posted on Facebook that he has played the drums John plays in the video. ;-)

You guys remember John Stamos from General Hospital??? Looks like he just gets better with age!

Owl card - Cricut Imagine Working Again!

I finally got brave and brought out the Imagine again, spent an afternoon and the next morning updating my Imagine and Gypsy. I printed the pattern paper on this card with the Nursery Tails cart as well as the Owl. The owl is from Hoot N Holler. I like printing card sentiments on cardstock and then cut them out and put on the card but my laptop doesn't like our printer so most days it will not print. With so much going on, I just was unable to put a sentiment on the front...it's what we wrote on the inside that matters. ;-)

I used a prima flower petal as the nose. It is 3D...sooo cute!

Thanks for looking!

Tea Cup

I made this tea cup using a silhouette file. I ran out of time so not much embellishing, but I love this paper. It has birds on it..bought it at Hobby Lobby.

Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day ladies, hope you have a great day!!!

Supplies:
Silhouette
Silhouette Heat Transfer Material
Brad
Ribbon
Prima flowers

I used an owl I had in my Silhouette Studio. I removed the print and just had the outline left. I add flowers for the owl's eyes and created the triangle nose by connecting 3 lines. Once it was done cutting, I ironed it onto the bag.

Next, I added the ribbon. Lastly, I added the prima flowers with a brad center.

I gave it to my Mom tonight and she loved it. She wants me to make one for her friend. Instead of an owl, she wants a horse (just the face) and she wants it to say "Facelift" because her friend was going to get a facelift but instead she bought a truck and 5th wheel. On the front of her truck, she has a tag with a horse face on it with "Facelift" on the top of the tag.

Cups + Vinyl

I made these cups for presents. The ladybug one is for my friend Audra...she loves ladybugs! The second one is for my mom...I put "Mom" on the front and a bird on the back. I read you have to use outdoor vinyl vs the indoor vinyl. So I bought 4 colors yesterday.

I have not been able to find any clear cups but I have only looked at 2 places since everything here has been closed for a week.

I'm back!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys - I am back!!!!!

What a crazy week it has been. No home phone, no electricity and no cell phone coverage for a couple of days. We have a generator, so that was very helpful. I felt guilty, knowing people sooo close to me were sifting through what was left.

The storm:
I felt like a storm chaser trying to get home before the first storm hit. We literally were running out of the school to get in our car and race home. As soon as we got home, we had to take the first safe place we could find. I sat and listened as it sounded like the roof was being pulled off my house, but it eventually got louder and louder and I knew it was hail...I was so thankful to hear that sound. We spent much of a 6- 7 hour period in our safe zone. The tornadoes kept coming, one after another and another. 2 came through our neighborhood, an EF5 and an EF2. I heard the EF5 - it sounded just like everyone says, a train.

I don't have pics of my area downloaded yet...but here are some pics of my family's property. We are all sooo happy no one we know was hurt. All the damaged property can be replaced...just going to take time to get it done.

This used to be a 50 x 90 ft shed. These are some old cars my dad wanted to give to his kids...now they are going to the junkyard. There are 2 Cadillacs, an El Camino, an old Impala (supposed to be mine) and his old farm truck.

This is a pic of a picnic area my dad built beside their house after he retired.

This is my sister in laws house. (she was married to my brother who passed away from a VERY short battle with cancer)...thank goodness she and the kids had just left the house before the tornado hit. The house will be bulldozed and rebuilt. It doesn't look so bad in the picture but almost everything inside was pretty much destroyed. Some of the rooms had everything thrown around everywhere you couldn't even walk in them.

Always take warnings seriously and take your safe place!
