Owl Pillow Box

I purchased this file from the Silhouette Library - how cute is this owl?!?!

I purchased the paper from Hobby Lobby, it is by the Paper Studio, the pack is called Uptown Flair - with Glitter.

I maximized the box on a 12 x 12 mat - in order to do this, I moved everything else off the mat, do a "select all", then resize. This keeps everything in proportion.

Cool LEDs that change colors.

Windows are electronically tinted, even when they are tinted all the way, you can still see out. It takes about 90 seconds for them to fully change, but you can see the change start to happen within seconds of pushing the dimmer button.

I see Butterflies

To create this battery operated candle holder, I bought a rose bowl and a candle holder. I purchased a 3D butterfly file from the Silhouette Library and got cutting. First, I etched the glass. Once the etching was done, started adding my butterflies. I worked from the top down. I used E6000 to glue them on to the glass. I placed the battery operated candle on the candle holder then placed the rose bowl on top (upside down). The candle holder is silver - even though it looks gold, sorry for the bad lighting.

Mason Jar - Soap Dispenser

I love how her's turned out but without the proper items on hand, I hand to improvise. (Because I couldn't wait to try this project!)

Luckily, my husband was making chicken fettucine alfredo tonight so while he was grilling the chicken, I got busy removing the label on the jar. I spray painted the top to match the Aveeno lotion dispenser. I will probably change this in the future, I really would like silver instead.

Large Rosette

I am intrigued by rosettes and how they work...even though I work in an engineering "field" I am NOT an engineer. I am the ONE that keeps the engineers on track. I cut the rosette file at 2.5 x 11.88. Guess what I found out...I need 2 at that size. I cut another one, taped them together, then added a circle in the middle to the back and front. Next, I cut another rosette at the original size, 1.08 x 11.88 and a circle at .930" (one for the front and one for the back). Voila, another rosette!

Edited to add:
I took 2 pieces of 12 x 12 pattern paper and glued them together since I want this to be pretty from the front and back. The back is pink and I added a circle to the middle as I did on the front, I plan to add another rosette to the back. This will be part of a bouquet I am using for my daughter's birthday party.

Another look at my pinwheels

The title should say, "Another look at OUR pinwheels".

I was able to get these pinwheels so they spin today. I picked up the last eyelet setter Hobby Lobby had. I didn't get the Big Bite as planned. Thanks to my hubby for helping with this project. He said anytime scrapbooking involves a hammer, he is willing to help. It was fun working together and the project went by so fast (too fast for him)!

I am about to fire my photographer...lol. I had him retake the pic below because it was too dark...

I made these pinwheels as one of the party gifts for my daughter's birthday party. Tomorrow I must buy a big bite so I can make these pinwheels spin-able! I made some for the boys and some for the girls. There are dinosaurs, monkeys, cupcakes and art deco on these pencil toppers.

The kids helped with this project by putting erasers on the top of the presharpened colored pencils.

I plan to use this as a table decoration and hand the pinwheels out as the kids leave the party.

Birthday Invitations

I made these invitations for daughter's birthday party. She has been so excited to have a party for months. She wanted to have it at home but I wasn't up to all the work, so she had to settle for something else (bad Mommy!).

I embossed the blue layer with a snowflake folder and then inked it with white craft ink. Love this effect! I made the envelopes because I didn't have any nice sturdy envelopes on hand.

My husband helped with this project by embossing the envelope inserts and also blurring out the important information on the invitation. Wahhooo, thanks honey!

Dino-mite!

I made these Valentine treat bags for my daughter's class. I am a little early, trying to stay on top of things. I have more to make, I just haven't put the candy in the bags yet. I found the candy at Cracker Barrel, not our favorite place to eat, but they serve breakfast all day :-)

I tried cutting this paper with my Imagine but it kept eating my paper, so I quickly abandoned that idea, bought a dinosaur file from SIL and got busy! I cut 3 dinosaurs with Kraft paper and once with the pattern paper. I wanted it to be sturdy since the dinosaur is kinda hanging off the sides.

Thanks to my hubby for taking this picture for me, isn't he sweet?

Lettering Delights File used with SIL Studio

I have been wanting to play with SVG files and haven't really known what to do. With the help of Jin's Website, I was able to get a couple of images imported in to the SIL software. This is a bag I purchased from Lettering Delights. The download came with the .gsd file I needed to open in the SIL Software. This is so exciting, I love having options. It has been fun learning something new.

160 cuts in about 2 hours

I am room mom for my daughter's class and I told her teacher months ago, I can cut images for her if she ever needs anything. In Nov and Dec she had time slots for us to come in and craft with the kids and we could do our own projects if we wanted. If you remember we did the Turkey bags and the Gingerbread houses. After that, she asked me to cut gingerbread people for her and this week she asked me to cut 60 snowflakes and 100 mittens.

For this project, I had to break out the Imagine. I was planning to have 3 machines working at once, but I didn't have the energy to set up the third, haha. I used my Cameo to cut the really fancy snowflakes and I used the Imagine to cut the other snowflakes and the mittens.

It took about 2 hours I think. I had extra mats so I could have a mat ready when one came out. The Imagine tried to eat 2 of my mats, not sure what happened, but one of the mats, I will not put back in the machine, it bent the corner and I am scared to use it again.

The Cameo was definitely quieter than the Imagine. My husband even commented on it without me even asking him. The other thing I liked about the Cameo was that I used the SIL Studio Software to maximize my cutting space. I could have done this with the Gypsy and the Imagine but to me, that was too much trouble since my Gypsy isn't even charged right now. I have never found the Gypsy to be a must have tool for me. I know a lot of ppl have it and love it - that is great. I wish I loved it as much.

So, with the Cameo, I was able to cut 8 - 4" snowflakes on a 12 x 12 piece of paper and with the Imagine, I only got 4 on a page. Both machines cut really well. I hope my kids are not disappointed I accomplished this project on my own tonight. I told them they may have to help and they seemed happy about that.

I plan to make a 3D robot with my son tomorrow, if time permits. He brought out the robot cart and was talking about one of the robots he wanted - but said I didn't have to make it if I didn't want to. I had read a long time ago on the MB that is was impossible to put together, but I know we can do it!

I wasn't sure I could complete this project in a weekend. I actually was a little scared, glad everything went so well.

I'll be impressed if you make it through this entire post...haha Sorry it was so long!

Trying out new Sizzix Embossing Folders

To create this card, I used the Sizzix embossing folder seen below. I used Stuido G and Stampin' Up ink with the Stampin' Up blender pens to fill in the raised embossed images. I don't own a Sizzix machine, so I ran this through my Cuttlebug using plates A, B and B and it worked wonderfully!

To create the owl card, I also used the Sizzix embossing folders listed below along with my home printer, pattern paper and my Silhouette Cameo. Ink and floss were the final embellishments.

I found the following at JoAnn's. My friend gave me a gift card for JoAnn's for my birthday - so I took advantage of it today. Thanks Ann! I also got a 3 drawer container to hold my 12 x 12 paper, but I don't think it is going to fit in my closet, so I may have to take it back.

Both of the following packs came with dry embossing folders as well as 1 die cut. I don't use die cuts, but I will make a point to use these along with the embossing folders. They are so cute!

How do you do it? I have spent 2 evenings cleaning out and organizing my scrap closet. I have more paper than any girl needs...some is getting donated but most is staying. How do you organize your 12 x 12 paper? I wanted to hang mine in file folders and put it in my desk, but it is a tad bit too big. So back to the closet it goes.

Another thing, how do you decide what scraps you keep and which ones get canned? I allow myself one jetmax cube for scraps but I find myself not using them much any more. I am going to try to use my scraps more and also use the pattern paper I have on hand instead of printing my own paper.

I should have a pic of my closet tomorrow. I need to make some labels for my jetmax drawers. I look forward to your comments!!!

Happy New Year, will be here before we know it...so I made this little card tonight. I have to admit, it took a while. I am so used to print and cut with the Silhouette. Tonight, I thought I would piece this card together. I started with the little tree. Next, I created the Mama owl and last, I created the little owl.

I think this is a little outside the box for me, but I love this card.

Snowflake

I made this snowflake using my NEW Silhouette Cameo. I didn't ask for it, but hubby surprised me. He took the blade (and blade housing) out of the box and wrapped it in a medium size box, along with SIL software and a $10.00 download card. I was so confused on why they would send software with the new blade - I just sat there staring at it. He left the room and I didn't really notice. Then he walked in carrying the Cameo and wanted to know if it would work in "this". uuuuhhh yeah! What a surprise...now I am back to cutting 12 x 12, real 12 x 12!

This was my first cut. I put it on tree - I guarantee my daughter will notice first thing tomorrow morning.

Isn't he the best??? Yes, he is!

We have never made Reindeer food, but when I saw Tanya and her granddaughter had made it, I thought, hmmm, that might be something fun to do with the kids.

They loved it! My son measured the oatmeal, while my daughter added the glitter. We sprinkled it on the driveway just before bedtime. While we were sprinkling, my sister texted to let us know Santa had been spotted in our county by the Sheriff department. Inside we ran and off to bed the kids went, as I read "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" to them.

Though it was hard for the kids to settle down and go to sleep, some furry stuffed friends helped them to call it a night.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. May you find happiness in being with family - with or without presents under the tree.

My daughter asked me the other day if she could have one of my post it notes. As I was shopping for pens today, I had an idea to get my daughter her own post it notes and this is what I found.

I also bought one for my son but didn't realize it had flowers on the inside until I got home. I added some embossed yellow (his favorite color) to the inside flaps to cover most of the flowers.

I know I could have made these covers, but they would not be as sturdy as these. For kids, I feel they need to be heavy duty, haha.

I plan to put these in their stockings with some mini pens.

Secret Pal

This is my second time cutting 35+ gingerbread men. The first time, I cut them for my sister and this time, I cut them for my daughter's teacher. Whew! That takes a while. I can hardly wait to see what they do with them. I am not involved with this project. I know it will be creative, she has an awesomely creative teacher.

Pinwheel Pencil Topper

I made this pinwheel pencil topper for my son's secret pal at school. His name is Cameron, so I put a "C" on it since I don't know his interests. I dry embossed the multi-layered 1 3/4" circle. Oh - and yes it does turn. I used an eyelet and a brad to make it spinable!

Also showing off my new "31" caddy. Not sure what I am going to do with it, but isn't it adorable?

Snowman Soup

I am joining all of you who have ever made Snowman Soup. Never thought I would make these, but they have been a joy to make. So easy, esp when you have a wonderful 5 year old willing to help with every step.

The only thing we had a hard time with is getting the little marshmallows in the little bags...they kept falling on the counter, which meant, they must be eaten right then and there. ;-) She was so cute, her brother was off on a playdate and she wanted to save "the rest" of the marshmallows for him. Little girls can be so sweet!

I designed the topper using my Silhouette. The base is a card that has a perforated middle section so it is easy to fold. YAY! The background is a digi paper I bought from Etsy. The snow man and "Merry Christmas" are SIL files I purchased.

I am making at least 20 of these and about 15 of those goes to school (lunch room workers, PE teacher, music teacher, art teacher...) Their teachers get a nicer gift, hate that I can not afford a nice gift for all of them, they are all so important.

My husband just stole one of these to take to work. (I'll be making more.)

Decorated Gingerbread house

Well, today was the day I got to play with a kindergarten class. The kids loved this project. The most loved part was the GLITTER GLUE! I took 2 bottles - should have taken at least 4. They were all precious and the teacher loved the houses (even before we decorated them).

I made the peppermint candy with my Silhouette and turned them in to stickers using my Xyron. My husband twisted the pipe cleaners (candy canes) for me - I tried but just couldn't get it. I bought the pom poms and stickers at Michaels right before we began our project.

They all looked different, some had a ton of pom poms - some had a few like my daughter's in the pic above. Some had a lot of glitter, some had a little, they all did a great job. I was so proud of them!

At the end, I gave them a battery operated candle to go on the inside. (I explained to them not to use a real candle.)

It was a lot of fun and the kids loved it...doesn't get any better than that!

I made this gift card holder today after finding out my son's class is giving his teacher a coffee inspired basket for Christmas. As I was sitting at my desk, I realized a bag I made over the weekend matches perfectly. I printed all the paper using digital paper and I cut the holder and bag using my Silhouette.

"Joy" Banner

I made this banner and added it to the family calendar. My son has taken over the family calendar, he updates it every month and adds to it as the month progresses. He changed Thanksgiving day - removing "Gobble Gobble" to add the Packers game. His teacher is from Green Bay and now he is excited about the Packers.

Gingerbread Houses

Hubby and I made these cute little gingerbread houses for my daughter's class. I am going to do a craft with them next Friday. I thought it would be cool to decorate gingerbread houses. I am not sure what embellishments I will take with me besides the ones you see here...if you have any ideas, feel free to share with me.

Wanted to mention...I got smart and cut the windows out of white vinyl. At first I was using cardstock and my Xyron, it was a little gooey.

I can hardly wait to do this with the kids. They are so sweet and my daughter has the BEST kindergarten teacher, EVER!

Let is snow boy card

Silhouette is offering images for .50 each so I grabbed a few today. I knew if I didn't use this little boy today, I might never use him...so I started immediately and this is what I came up with.

I used the digital paper I bought on Etsy to fill in the little boy's clothes. Then I had to piece him together (electronically). Next, I chose some frames to frame my words "Let it Snow!". The background paper is also a digi paper. Once I printed it on my home printer and cut it with the Silhouette, I inked the edges. I used my Crop A Dile to insert eyelets on each side of the frame, then ran my ribbon through it for a different look. Once I dry embossed the card, I used a dauber to ink the raised snowflakes.

I used the same background frame as on the front of the card, but I made it a little larger, then I offset it (internally) and filled it in with white. I added the little boy's mittens to the bottom right hand corner. Once I printed and cut it out, I inked the edges.

I used white ink and a snowflake stamp to decorate the back of the paper.

I bought digital paper from Etsy last night. Today I received the files and the background is one of those files. I printed it on my home printer then cut it out with my Silhouette. I created the penguin last night using Silhouette Studio and the frame was purchased from the SIL library.

I need something to stamp on the bottom...this calls for a shopping trip! :-)

I created this using Silhouette Studio. Everything except the frame was created by me using basic shapes. I used Silhouette patterns to fill in the shapes. The good news is this can be printed on my home printer, cut with my Silhouette and voila, I have a tag!

Birthday Box

I made this box, then I decided it needed to be decorated on the inside as well. Of course, I started this project at bed time and now it is an hour and a half later...haha.

So...I am not finished with this box...but thought I would post it any way. I am thinking of ideas for my aunt's 80th birthday party. I thought about making a tiered cake, but not sure I am up to that.

Love this box, it is too cute! I bought the pattern from Silhouette and printed it on my home computer, then had SIL cut it out for me. Easy, Peasy!

Gobble Gobble, Kindergarten Style

Today, I visited my daughter's kindergarten class to help with a craft. This is what we created. The turkey body is a little triangle box. I had the kids trace their hands and then cut it out. Next, they colored the hands. We put them on the back of the turkey to appear as feathers. They all did a great job, even if a few fingers got cut off (the paper ones, haha).

I brought a treat to insert inside the box, but on the way to the school I had another idea. I had the kids to write down some things they are thankful for - they had a lot of good ideas, "beautiful earth, God, Mom and Dad, Grandparents..." We put the things they are thankful for in their turkey box.

I challenge you to take a few moments and think about what you are thankful for. Write them down and put them around your scrap area as a reminder of this season.

Well, I knew this blog update was going to be a challenge, but I am proud of what I have learned so far. Chris helped me get my background uploaded. I created one with an owl on it, however, I decided not to use it. I found a picture I had uploaded to photobucket a while back and I decided to use it instead. I have been looking at vector images and feeling a little overwhelmed.

It still needs a little tweaking. I am not sure how to get rid of the pink border on the top. I want to decrease the transparency of the background.

I found a cool site that gives the html color codes. If you need it, click here to see the codes. I was thrilled that I was able to figure this part out in about 5 minutes, since everything else has taken a little longer to figure out.

I will probably be playing with this for a while and I might even pay someone to design a template for me, but for now, I am having fun with this project.

Tomorrow I am going to craft with 10 kindergarteners. I made little bags and the kids are going to decorate them as turkeys. They are going to trace their hand, cut it out and then color it for the feathers, I think it will be so cute!

Wish me luck, I have never done anything like this before.

Thanks to Chris who helped me get my background image uploaded. I am still playing around with the images I am going to use, but at least now I know how to create the background image and edit the html code to get it uploaded to my blog.

Now, if he helps me get my blog updated so it looks correct, I think there may be an Xbox game in it for him.

Pinwheel Pencil Topper - Take 2

I wanted to make this pencil topper twirl, so I used my Crop A Dile to insert an eyelet on the petals, then I slid my brad through the eyelet. Since this was a trial run, I used scrap paper and ran it through my crimper.

I found the idea for these cute little pencil toppers at the Fiskar's web page. These are sooo super duper easy and cute! I think they would make great addition for birthday party treat bags, sports team end of year parties, Valentine's Day...

Here is how I made them.

I punched 8 (6 for the black and white one - it is thick cardstock) - 1 3/4" circles, folded them in half, punched a little hole in one end (for the brad) and then embellish as desired.

I dry embossed the black and white one. For the girlie one, I cut out a flower for the center, then heat embossed it. Add ribbon and Viola, you are done!

Cricut has a mini Cricut launching soon. It says you can use Imagine carts with this cart, interesting. I wonder if we will be able to print with our home printer then cut using the Cricut Craft Room. Heard any rumors (or facts)?

I made this for our office administrator. Her granddaughter is going to a gymnastic competition and she asked me to make a poster for her. There will be 5 pictures added where you see the zebra frames. She asked for black and white but i asked if I could add either red or pink and she said yes...So I chose pink. I hope she likes it!

No 2 - Champs

We made it to the final game where we lost by 1 point. So proud of these boys and their sportsmanship. The coach said he got lots of compliments on how the team conducted themselves.

This was a lot harder on my son that I thought it would be. When I approached the bench, I saw some tears (from the other boys), I looked at my son and told him good game, and he just dropped his head. After the awards ceremony we all met at a new local yogurt shop and celebrated a great season (again). By the time we got home, my son was upset. He said this was his favorite coach (he meant coaches) and he is going to miss his teammates. After lots of hugs and words of encouragement, looking at the Scorpion website and the video daddy made, things were better.

My son attends a private school and 2 of the other guys on the team attend the same school, they are going to wear their jerseys tomorrow and the coach asked the principal to recognize them when they do the morning prayers and announcements.

Last week, my son pre-coordinated with his teacher to bring in his trophy and she said yes...so it should be a good day tomorrow.

Tournament Status

My son's team played 2 games and they won BOTH! They play again tomorrow. They played the #3 team second and it was a tough one. It was tied 1-1 until the last 15 seconds, when
Zach pushed down the field, then passed to Noah, and SLAM into the net, 2-1. Tomorrow is going to be tough. The boys are tired.

No 4 is mine :-)

We went to Outback afterwards and noticed there were not a lot of people there, and immediately the hostess said "Game", everyone was at home getting ready to watch the AL/LSU game...it is all EVERYONE is talking about...let's see who wins this one...

Soccer Treat Bags

Go Scorpions! Tournament starts tomorrow...we play 2 games and if we win, we have to play on Sunday. I made these bags for the kids - I will hand them out at the last game, whenever that might be. I used vinyl to add the child's name and jersey number.

The bag is a silhouette file I purchased from the SIL library. I cut clear acrylic to cover the circle, then I printed and cut a soccer ball, ran it through my Xyron and viola, a soccer treat bag. Inside are small bags of pretzels and fruit snacks.

These can hang on a door handle, how cool is that?

IF you are counting...we didn't have a number 1 or 2 for some reason???

Treat bags for Fall Festival

I made 2 male and 2 female treat bags for the kids fall festival. As room mom, I am in charge of coordinating volunteers and donations for the school fall festival.

The shark one is my favorite. I love the embossing. I feel like the other ones are a little too plain even though I printed the pattern paper and then cut out the box. I used acrylic behind the frame window.

I hope these are acceptable, I have not seen anyone do anything like this for fall festival...maybe I will start a trend?

How awesome is this card and composition book? It was sent to me by my great blogger friend Tanya. You don't know how excited I was when I saw it was a RAK from her! Soccer bag design

My son helped win the regional soccer tournament, now they are off to the area tournament. How exciting!!! I plan to make soccer ball bags filled with candy to hand out at the next tournament.

Silhouette software makes this so easy, I am using the spider web bag I made yesterday. All I have to do is delete the web and inset the soccer ball. How easy is that?

Spider Web Treat Bag

This spider web treat bag can also be hung on a door handle. I didn't use the handle with the slit for the door, but one could easily cut a slit and hang it on a door. My son is going to love this! I used a Ziploc bag behind the web and then I inserted orange card stock for more definition. Fun, EASY project!

I made 2 of these, one for each kid. As you can see, my daughter has already colored on the first page of her book. These books were made with plain cardstock, Embossing ink and powder, SU! stamp, Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots dry embossing folder and PC Your Story (binder). I bought the Your Story strips from Hobby Lobby and wanted to try them out, so this was my first project.

I embossed the inside too! I love embossing, why don't I do it more?

This book is a Christmas Wish List book. I am trying to get a head start on Christmas Shopping. No last minute surprises this year (hopefully)!

I love this little bird embossing folder. I have stamps I never use so today I thought I would pull out a stamp and use it. Not my favorite card, but it has elements I like. I like the scallop edges (it is a Fiskar punch). The jewels Tanya gave me a while back add a nice touch to any card.

I had a thought today, what if I wanted to use a Silhouette rhinestone pattern for a different purpose? Here are the instructions to my idea.

1. Find rhinestone pattern/design in Silhouette Studio

2. Fill image with a pattern

3. Select all, then choose "no cut" for the lines

4. Offset by .250

5. Select all, then Ungroup

6. Select outline

7. Select to cut the outline

Now, put it on a card or layout. How cut is this snowman?

I created this card for my bosses boss, Walt. He is actually the manager who hired me 10+ years ago. I worked for him for probably 4 years or so until I moved to the software group. He has moved up and I have moved to the Avionics Engineering group, which is happens to fall under Walt. We are having a picnic for our boss and decided to invite Walt also, so I made this card today.

I printed the paper on the Cricut Imagine. The pattern is on the Audrey (which also happens to be a lovely name and a lovely blogger!) cart. The file folder card can be found on Fabulous Finds cart (I used the blackout feature). After cutting the card x 2, I switched over to my Sihouette.

I found the frame in my library. I created an inset, then made the line dotted and white. I repeated the process only making the offset larger than the original frame and again added the dotted white lines. This is sooo easy to do with the SIL and I think a great touch.

Lastly, I added some twine and inked the edges...hope he likes it. I am sure he will appreciate it...he's that kind of man.

Simple, but pretty I think.

Review of the Paper Studio embossing folders

I had a little free time today so I stopped by Hobby Lobby. I was very selective in my purchases, but I did purchase an embossing folder made by the Paper Studio. I have to say, it is awesome. I wasn't sure how it would work in my Cuttlebug, but it worked perfectly. The emboss is deep, gives lots of texture. Highly recommend these!

Tee Shirt Pom Poms

I found a neat blog today. She had the cutest pompoms with a tutorial - I had to try them. Please check out her website, it is soooo cool!

I followed her instructions on the first 2 and then I tried to modify it on the 3rd one.

Here is the first one. It is made out of decorative trim ribbon. I added it to my daughter's dance bag.
The next one I made out of an old t-shirt like she did, but my edges didn't curl...must be the type of material???

The third one is also made out of the t-shirt but I wanted to see if I could modify the steps.

The first step is to cut the strips.

The second step is to fold the strips in half and tie them together.

The third step is to cut the end that is flapped over. Last, work with it so you can't the ribbon that is holding it together.

Fun project, I would love to do this with different patterns of cloth.

I made these cards for S.O.S. She is not a girly girl and has asked me to make cards for her before and she wanted them very plain, so that is what I did with this set. My favorite is the black and white. I love all the embossing. The "D" is cut from vinyl and looks wonderful on the card. I put a mounting square on the back of the seal so she can remove the sticker backing and seal the envelope.

Wish I could have made more but I think I am done with this project. I am a slow scrapper. It took me 3 nights to finish these cards. I would like to make 1 more card to match the black and white card, but not sure I have the time.

Happy Birthday Card

I made this little card for my sister in law. I wanted to learn how to make the rosette flowers but couldn't figure it out, thank goodness for youtube and a couple of girlfriends to help me out. It really works best to use E6000 on the back and in the middle of the rosette, then place something on top for a few minutes so it can set.

I went outside of the box a little on this. Normally I wouldn't have added the pink embellishments you see but tonight I thought, why not? I actually kind of like it.

Rhinestone Paw

I used my Silhouette to create a rhinestone paw. The paw was purchased from the Silhouette store. It is orange and blue for Auburn, go Tigers! I purchased the white sweater at Target (it was on clearance for 13.00, wahhhooo). Now I want to put this on a bag. Hopefully I will be able to find one soon.

National Boss Day

National Boss Day (NBD) is coming up on the 17th. I created this card for my awesome boss. He is a family man, who raised his daughter by himself. He always understands when I need to take a day off or even a few hours to go to the school for a program. Our group really appreciates him so every year we give him a card, a small gift and either take him out to lunch or have a picnic across the street from our building. We have a coworker who loves to grill, so he grills chicken or steak and we bring all the extras. Yesterday, my boss said it was time for another picnic, so I am going to see if our coworker will cook for us on NBD.

I made this card using my Silhouette (SIL). The pattern paper is a pattern I purchased from SIL. I used it twice on this card, once on white paper and then again on ivory paper. The typewriter is a print and cut file I bought from SIL. I typed the text on the front of the card using the SIL software. It says, "National Boss Day 2011 Enjoy". Twine was added to the top to add some color and texture. On the inside of the card, I used a 1 3/4" circle punch then stamped "It's your day". I inked all the edges. On the back, I added the ribbon my husband bought for me to add to my cards {he ALWAYS checks to see if I used it ;-)}

Orbiter

My daughter's kindergarten class is studying space this week. I made these orbiters and I am going to send them in tomorrow. Her teacher is having a shuttle dog lunch on Friday and I thought she could use these as the nameplates for the kids.

I had a hard time making these as the layers were hard to glue on. I had decided to just leave it and not do anything but then I remembered, wait this is the SIL so I colored all my layers then put them in place and grouped them. Next, I printed them using the registration marks so my SIL will know where to cut them and VOILA, here they are! I freehanded the rutter in the SIL software and even put the slit in the oribter so I could insert the rutter and fold it over.

I worked on this for a while today and I am happy with the results...even if it is missing some details.

Oh- I forgot to add, I cut strips of black paper about 1" x 8 1/2" folded it in half and then taped to the back of the orbiter...that is how they are standing.

There are only 10 kids in my daughter's class, how cool is that? She has an awesome teacher and we are loving the class! I hope her teacher likes the orbiters.

I made this Birthday card for an awesome little 6 year old, Jackson.

I bought the card/envelope file from Silhouette.

First, I printed each image with the pattern you see here (purchased from Silhouette) and then I cut them out with my SIL. Next, I flipped the images in the Silhouette software and printed/cut them again. I used my Xyron to make these papers sticky so I could make everything doublesided. I had an oppps when printing so I used that print and my 1 3/4" punch to cut a circle then I add a stamped "J" and put that on the front of the envelope. Bakers twine to accent and I was done!

You have seen the ladybug one, but I added some yarn to the bottom so I wanted to show you the update I made. I wanted all of these to have some texture to them. The flower one does not have ribbon, but I did make it 3D.

Fall - Pumpkin Card

Happy Fall! I found this ribbon at my LSS and had to have it. I haven't been able to scrap very much since school started so I wanted to buy something that would get me back in to scrapping. The pumpkin is a Silhouette file I purchased from Silhouette. The pearl embellishments were also bought at my LSS...I love the teal color! No card is complete without dry embossing (at least at my house). The background paper and card were found in my scrap box :-)

Junk Drawer No More

I told you guys I cleaned out my junk drawer, here it is! I bought a pencil box and put the kids school supplies in it. (Plus some gum for a special treat!) The supplies are not allowed to leave the kitchen since that is where we do homework. No more searching for lost crayons! My kids both have a beta fish, so I also put the fish food in this drawer so they have everything in one place. We have 2 pencil sharpeners and a note pad in our supply drawer. This has made homework time so much easier!

I use clear contact paper in my drawers, I might need to pretty this up with some scrap paper. :-)

First step to being organized

With both kids in school now, I realized I needed a dedicated space for them to put their backpacks when we get home in the afternoon. I went to a home improvement store and bought silver hooks (found on the bathroom accessory aisle). I like these because there are 2 hooks, so when it gets cold outside, they can hang their coat and back pack in the same place.

Above the backpacks is the family calendar. It lists all the major activities for the month. The kids love to move the dot to the correct date each day. I don't even have to remind them ;-)

On the left, you will see our workout calendar. We were doing an Insane workout, but then we went on vacation...

I made a card tonight, but I am waiting to post it. I think I may send it to a friend that visits my blog.

Hello friends! I have been eewwwing and ahhhing over the organization pins on the Pinterest website. I am in the middle of reorganizing my house. I cleaned out my junk drawer in my kitchen, it is no longer a junk drawer. Everything is organized, I even had room to put a pencil box with crayons, erasers, scissors...for the kids in my "junk" drawer. That's just one of the things I have been working on (instead of scrappping, haha).

Halloween Decorations

My kids and I spent the rainy afternoon making some Halloween decorations. To cut these, we used the Silhouette. The ghost and spider are files purchased from Silhouette. The pumpkin is 11 scallops folded in 1/2, then glued together with a hand cut stem and vine. We used the default size on all of these...not sure what that is, haha!

Shout out to my wonderful husband for going to the store to buy ingredients for dinner...and for cooking. We prepared a pizza together and he cooked it on the grill. It was awesome - and our first time to try this. Thanks Honey!!!!!!!

Although, I doubt my husband will ever use it...he relies on me to take care of all the "stuff" and to let him know if I need help with anything.

I made the folder to hold the catechism book, just free handed it. The other folders were bought at Target.

Pottery Barn Lamp - Inspiration

I made this for my sorority sister. She is having a baby boy within the next 2 weeks. I was able to find whale bath toys to coordinate with this card (and with the nursery bedding). This card was inspired by the coordinating Pottery Barn Lamp.

I used my SIL SD to create this card. I also use my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing folder to emboss the whale (which everyone loved!). I rounded the corner edges with my Round It All and inked the edges using my SU! ink. The font is from my computer and a brad eye was the last touch.

Vacation T-Shirts

Now that my husband has told everyone he works with our vacation location...I can post this. Have you ever noticed, if you tell someone you are going to the beach, they have to know where...why is that??? Anyway...

I made these shirts for my kids. You have seen the whale shirt, but without the words. Once we decided what beach we were going to this year, I added it to my son's shirt. The orange shirt is for my daughter and she will be so surprised when she wakes in the morning. She is my biggest fan, so I know she will love it!!! Some of the vinyl used is Silhouette and some is generic...I bought it on Ebay and I really like it! It works great!

Why does Blogger

Why does Blogger take me in a loop when I try to post comments to other people's blogs? Every time I click to post a comment, it takes me to the log in screen. When I put my password in, it takes me to the screen where I type in the magic word, and when I submit, it takes me back to log in, so I log in again, and I get a new magic word...it keeps doing this over and over until I just give up. Any way to avoid this?

Shirt - Rhinestone Ballet Shoes

I decorated this shirt using a Silhouette rhinestone template. I still have not purchased the coordinating paper to use with these rhinestones so I had to improvise. It took a really long time to get all the stones in place. I was going to also put the word "Dance" under the shoes but I am going to wait until I purchases the sticky paper - it will be much easier. My daughter starts her first year of ballet in August and she is soooooo excited. I am too bc she has never wanted to play sports or take any kind of lessons. Thanks Angelina Ballerina, you inspired my little girl to dance!!!

New Wall Art for Master Bedroom

I made this shirt for my daughter. I am sure it will be cuter on her than it is hanging on the clothes hanger. She was excited when she found out I was making it. I was going to put a bow on each sleeve but she only wanted one bow. She fell asleep before I finished...so it will be a surprise for her tomorrow. My son wants to know what he gets???

The firework was a template I bought from Silhouette...I left off the bottom part of it and I added more stones to make the firework bigger. Let's see how long these stones stay on her shirt. :-)

Cricut Craft Room

Wow, I finally got in to the Cricut Craft Room...not sure how long I have had access bc I didn't get an email notification. It is pretty cool! I am just playing around with some of the Cricut carts and using the Imagine pattern carts to fill the images...WOW, you can see it so well. This is pretty cool!

Furniture make-over (Continued)

I ♥♥♥ the new duvet cover. My husband gave me a gift card to Anthropologie and I happend to find this on sale and had to have it! Now I need to make some pillow shams. I will be making these in the next few weeks.

I have never painted furniture. I have wanted to do this for years, but I have been too scared! When I saw the duvet cover, I knew right then I had to do it. I waited a day before I bought the duvet cover (I just couldn't get it out of my head). A few days later, I had the supplies and was dying to get started. I started on Thursday after work and finished Saturday evening. Some of it got rained on Thursday night...and then on Saturday, I had to hurry and get everything inside because there was a storm that brewed up out of nowhere.

Now we have decided we want to paint the room but I really don't want to do any more painting for a while. This project wore me out!!!!! I asked my husband to only help me get the bed outside for painting, I wanted to do the rest. He did help move the chest and dresser also, but I did all the priming and painting and installing the new hardware (he had to tighten some of the handles for me).

Furniture make-over

I am in the process of painting my bedroom furniture. It is a lot more work than I thought it was going to be...but will be worth the end result. I am currently taking a break and I thought I would share a picture with you. The black shows every imperfection in the furniture...so we may have some sanding to do but this is the initial cut. I still have a nightstand, bed, chest and dresser to paint! whew!

Master bedroom makeover

Today, I bought this duvet cover. I bought one in an off-white color. (It was on clearance at our local store and I had a gift card, wahhhoooo!)

My husband agreed before I bought the duvet cover, he will help me get our bed disassembled and outside so I can paint it black. I have been wanting to do this for years...and I am soooo excited to get this project started and completed. I think it is going to look incredible.

Here is the inspiration for our room. Our headboard is shaped like this...but more definite. It reminds me of a puzzle piece. My mom bought it for me when I lived at home and I have never liked the headboard, however, I think once it is painted black I will love it! It is my sister's birthday tomorrow (we are about 15 1/2 years apart) , so I thought I would make a little card for her. I wanted this card to be different than something I would normally make so I used an odd shape and mismatched the colors a bit.

Back in the 70s, I think she liked owls...so I went with it. I used my Imagine to create this card. The paper is Amy Butler double sided paperstack. The card base is from Storybook (it is not a card but I folded it in half and made it a card). The owl is from Hoot 'n' Holler. I used my Imagine to print the pattern paper (used for the owl). The pattern carts I used are Elise and Audrey. I used a CB embossing folder to negative emboss the sentiment paper. A Copic marker to color in the pupils was the way to go.

I struggled with this card a bit but I am happy with the result. I like doing things a little different...you never know what you will come up with.

I bought some new clothes tonight...thanks to my husband! I told him I needed his credit card to order some clothes and he came back with his wallet! I did save him 5% for being a black card member and 10% by searching for a coupon code. I also deleted a shirt I had in my shopping cart...because I am that nice!

I used white heat set vinyl from http://www.vinylsuperstore.com/ and smooth pink heat set vinyl made by Silhouette. The apron was purchased at Hobby Lobby. I added ribbon to the two straps.

Wouldn't this make a cute dress??? If only I could sew.

Atlee's Bag

Our friends just moved back from FL, so the kids and I went to Barnes and Noble, picked up a couple of books, a stuffed animal and also included a note pad, pens and a neat glow stick as Atlee's welcome back gift. Atlee is 7 and is the most amazing kid you could ever meet...I just love her! I only had a few minutes to whip this together before we were going over to see their new house - or I would have added more to the bag.

For this project, I used heat set vinyl and my Silhouette SD.

Cathedral Caverns

Tom and Huck (the movie) was filmed here and this is where they came out of the tunnel...I haven't seen the movie but I am going to ASAP.

This is the opening to the cave, have you ever seen anything like this? Over 100 ft wide!

We visited Cathedral Caverns today with some friends. It was such an awesome experience. They offer an extended tour - it requires long pants and boots, it involves walking a tight path that is only about 20 inches wide, climbing rocks, and even crawling through a 7 foot tunnel... we are soooooo going to do it!!!!!!!!!!! It takes about 5 hours but the view is supposed to be even more awesome than what we saw today.

Not sure I will actually "scrapbook" this experience but I may do a layout of my husband folding laundry today...HAHAHAHA!!!! (I really did take pics of him folding laundry!!!)
